The day
A day in the school, from the door to pickup
The morning is the same in every room. School day children stay for lunch, rest and an English-led afternoon.
- 018:00 a.m.
Step 1: Arrival
An adult greets each child at the door. Shoes come off, bags go in the cubby and children choose a book or a puzzle.
- 028:30 a.m.
Step 2: Morning circle
A greeting, the weather and the song of the day, led in Japanese. Everyone has a turn to help.
- 039:15 a.m.
Step 3: Snack and craft
Snack is set out by the teachers with the children, followed by the seasonal craft at a low table.
- 0410:45 a.m.
Step 4: Outdoor time
The yard and the garden bed, with an English-speaking teacher alongside, whatever the weather lets us do.
- 0511:30 a.m.
Step 5: Story time
Picture books read aloud in English, then a goodbye song. Morning children go home at noon.

Lunch from home, rest, quiet work and play, and pickup at 3:00 p.m..
